Tips for Decorating Your Bedroom

The decorating skills displayed in your bedroom start first of all with what you enjoy. Your room emits your personality, so play it up.

Your first objects of choice would be the large items, the bed, dressers and chairs. Once these items are chosen, then the choices for the accessories will follow.

1. Texture: Start with choosing items with a variety of textures. Decorative pillows are a good place to implement texture, as in maybe a velvet pillow, a satin pillow, cotton or linen. Another texture example maybe a wooden floor or a basket for a faux throw blanket close to the bed.

2. Contrast: Different shapes makes your bedroom interesting. Mix straight lines with curves. Bring a flat tray, for example, with round items on it in a grouping with a picture to enhance the beauty of the lines and shapes.

3. Metallic items: Shiny metallic objects such as a silver trinket box or a copper bowl add extra sparkle to a bedroom.

4. Greenery: Living plants add an element of peace to your bedroom. Some plants even emit sleep-enhancing qualities in addition to providing oxygen for a healthy sleep environment. Flowering plants add that extra touch of pleasure to your d├ęcor as well.

5. Putting it all together: This may very well be the trickiest part. A simple way of choosing the placement may be to take pictures of the varying groupings and settings until you find what you like best. If you're having trouble deciding, I suggest to sleep on it. It may come to you clearly in the morning.

Best of all, this is the room that belongs to you and it should be what brings you delight and enjoyment. So don't be afraid to let your personality and tastes show out.
